5th European Meeting on Visual and Physiological Optics (EMVPO)
KTH, AlbaNova, Stockholm
22 - 24 Augusti 2010
|
|
The EMVPO conferences gather world leading scientists in visual and physiological optics. The focus is on how the optics of the eye affects vision and on how it may be corrected and improved. The meetings are much appreciated due to the high scientific quality and the informal and intimate atmosphere, which encourages the exchange of new ideas and networking. It is a three-day meeting without parallel sessions and it attracts participants from all over the world.
The conferences are hosted by different European laboratories involved in visual and physiological optics. The first conference was held in Wroclaw, Poland, in 1999 and it is now a biannual conference: Granada, Spain, in 2004, London, UK, in 2006, Heraklion, Greece, in 2008 and now the Visual Optics group at KTH (the Royal Institute of Technology) in collaboration with the European Optical Society is pleased to welcome you to the 5th meeting in Stockholm, Sweden.

Summary Optikdagen 2009
12 November |
|
Optikdagen 2009, the annual meeting for the Swedish optics and photonics community took place on November 12th, at Electrum in Kista It was arranged by the Swedish Optical Society (SOS) with help from Swedoptronics and Kista Photonic Research Center (KPRC). The organization of Optikdagen-2009 was arranged by a SOS-program committee consisting of Pierre-Yves Fonjallaz, Emil Hällstig, Fredrik Laurell and Lennart B.M. Svensson. Almost 150 attendees had registered, but due to the flue approx. only 135 attendees were able to come and visit the conference. This year’s talks were given by 18 speakers, resulting in parallel sessions for half the day. The highlight of the day was probably when Wizzcom AB showed 3D-animations on a 3D-LCD-TV manufactured by Alyoscope in France. There were also 15 optics & laser companies exhibiting in the main hall of Electrum. The laser company Cobolt AB was granted the prize “Swedish optical company of the year”, a yearly prize appointed by Swedoptronics. Leif Stensland represented Swedoptronics, and handed over the prize, a hologram, to CEO Håkan Karlsson from Cobolt. Swedoptronics also granted the “examensarbete” of the year with 10000 kr, and the winner was Patrik Rugeland for his work ”Tunable phaseshifted fiber Bragg gratings and its applications in the microwave region”. The conference ended with drink and dinner at the Electrum restaurant facilities, were SOS granted 2000 kr for the best poster to Mårten Stjernström for his work on “Optical fiber-capillary systems for micro-fluidic analysis”.
